Hurricane Report:

The Carolina Hurricanes snagged their first preseason victory with a 4-0 shutout over the Winnipeg Jets. The game took place in the Time Warner Cable Arena, the hockey barn belonging to the Charlotte Checkers. Over 10,000 Checkers, Canes, and some Thrashers fans attended the Sunday contest with much gusto.

The home team did not disappoint, especially the young stars competing for a full time spot on Jim Rutherford’s roster. Zac Dalpe has been on his game since his spring playoff performance with the Checkers. Dalpe was the first to score Sunday, followed by Jay Harrison. Riley Nash is another Charlotte resident that impressed with an assist and goal.

The other goal came from the stick of Jerome Samson. It was Samson’s first NHL goal. Congratulations Jeromeo.

Cam Ward was the top star of the night with 36 saves. Not bad for a preseason dance, also not surprising. The King of Pucks will be at the Backyard Bistro Wednesday at 7pm for a live interview with 99.9

Unsolicited Bias Opinion:

Although it pains me to say this about my BGSU boy, Jon Matsumoto was unable to make a good case for himself against the Jets. He had two bad shifts and a blown goal on the breakaway. JR won’t remember his name between Justin Faulk and Ryan Murphy.

Beyond the Glass:

Cam Ward was caught giggling when a man licked his lady instead of kissing her on the jumbo tron kiss cam feature. Before sliding his mask back into place, Ward puckered up…to who…I do not know. Classic Canes.
