Feature Friday: Brandon Sutter

The Sutter family is like the Kennedy’s of hockey, prominent figures in the game. The Carolina Hurricanes boast Brandon, Brett and recently added Brody to their Canes/Sutter family tree.

The 6’3”, 183 lbs center was drafted 1st Round, 11th overall by the Hurricanes in 2007. He was born on Valentine’s Day in 1985 in Huntington, NY, although his hometown is considered Red Deer, Alberta.

In October of 2010, Brandon made his NHL introduction against Florida. He had a helper on the game winning goal. His first goal came on the 23rd of October in the first period against Pittsburgh. Prior to playing for the Canes, Sutter represented the Red Deer Rebels and Albany River Rats. #16 also helped Team Canada in the 2008 World Junior Championships to a gold medal.

In 82 games, the forward earned 14 goals and 15 assists, including three game-winners and an extra-man goal (which we rarely saw from the Canes last season). It will be interesting to see how Brandon steps up his game in response to the recent roster changes. Personally, I predict he is going to have a stellar year. You heard it here folks.

Now, onto my favorite part…the videos. Enjoy!
