The Hershey Bears tied the series 1-1 at the Giant Center Sunday evening. Patrick McNeill got the bears on the board halfway through the first. However, it was the pummeling in the second period that resulted in the 2-4 loss.
Andrew Kozek, Brian Willsie, and Shekdon Souray each scored against Justin Pogge in the second period. Keith Aucoin was credited with two helpers, bringing his playoff total to one goal and three assists.
Zac Dalpe gave a stellar effort to keep his Checkers in the game. #19 had two goals, including an extra-man netter, also in the second. The entourage of Bowman (1), Sutter (2), Boychuk, and Sanguinetti (1) were given the assists for creating the successful plays.
Dalpe has been a textbook beauty with three goals and two assists in the short playoff run with Hershey. Those skills gave him the second star in Sunday’s match-up.
Power plays were a struggle for both teams. Charlotte went 1-for-7 and Hershey Bears went 0-for-5. The lack of production was similar in game one.
A group of faithful caniacs made the trip up north to cheer on the Checkers. I admire their dedication! They have inspired me to coordinate a group trip for Game 3 (Tuesday), Game 4 (Wednesday), and/or Game 5 (Friday). To work out the logistics and cost, please answer the following questions in the comment section by 6:00pm today.
1. What game(s) are you interested in attending?
2. Are you wanting to return same day or stay overnight?
3. Are you willing to drive? (Passengers will pay for gas.)
4. Do you already have tickets or need to purchase? (May make group purchase & then you can pay me at the game.)
5. Are you a serial killer?
Thanks! I look forward to meeting some fellow fabulous caniacs while watching the Charlotte Checkers murder some Bears!
