Tortured Clevelander's Take on Canes' Conclusion

“Hey, you’re from Cleveland so you should be used to disappointment.”

After a quick punch to the mouth, I explain my origin is what makes the Hurricanes‘ ending more painful. Do you know how long it has been since the mistake-on-the-lake saw a championship? Allow me to educate you on the pain that is being a Cleveland fan:

Indians: Our MLB team has not won the World Series since 1948. A couple division titles in ’95 & ’96.

Browns: This NFL team has never made a Super Bowl appearance. Their last title was in 1964.

Cavs: Even this franchise has never claimed a NBA championship, and the sting from LeBron’s departure still burns.

Barons: Cleveland had brief NHL representation that also amounted to nothing.

ESPN named Cleveland the most tortured sports city in America in 2004. So clearly, you understand why I’m taking the Canes’ conclusion with a bitter attitude.

I’m not upset at the team, rather I feel upset for the team. They performed better than anyone expected. Collectively, the boys are charismatic and model athletes. I don’t think I have adored and respected a team to this extent since the 1995-97 Cleveland Indians. Ironic as they had a similar ending.

However, as Cleveland fan, no one is better at dusting themselves off and cheering with even more dedication upon their teams return. Just give me a couple days to pout first, okay?
