Take Two: Tampa Bay at Carolina

Alright, allow me to call myself out here. It’s game time and I am just now posting the recap from last night and the preview for tonight’s game. Bad sports blogger, bad.

Bronchitis on top of directing a 325 person fundraiser today in the cold pooped me out. Cry me a river, I know.

I’m sure you’ve already read recaps of yesterday’s victory, so let’s review the highlights…

In Friday’s post, I stated Cole, Skinner, and Staal would have to bring their A-games to win. Thank you for heeding my advice. Cole sent two pretty pucks to the back of the Bolt’s net (one extra-man goal too, I might add), Staal scored in the third, and Jeff Skinner claimed his 26th of the season during the first twenty minutes.

I also said the Canes  would need to keep team leaders, Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos from producing. St. Martin was credited with two assists, but that was the extent of the duo’s damage.

The result…a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lighting.

Keys for tonight’s game at the RBC Center with the familiar Lightning…heck, if it’s not broken don’t fix it. Canes need to keep Bolt’s big dogs in checks while the Tampa Bay thorns, known as Cole, Skinner, and Cole, score early and get those extra-man goals. Not rocket science, right? Perhaps, easier said the done.

Joni Pitkanen is out with a stomach bug for this evening’s contest. Jamie McBain  is in and thought to be on left wing on first unit.

Stay tuned for your FULL and FABULOUS game recap tomorrow morning! LET’S GO CANES!
