Hurricanes 31-28-10, Sabres 34-27-8
“I feel the need, the need for speed!”
Nothing gets me more excited than Tom Cruise and his aviator glasses taking to the sky to bring down the enemy. Nothing, except tonight’s game against Buffalo! The Hurricanes are going to take to the sky and rain some hell in Buffalo.
I have been reciting this affirmation all day. It has helped look pass the pink elephant on the ice.
The Canes are good enough, they’re smart enough, and doggone it, people like them!
“Yeah, it’s going to be huge,” Eric Staal told ESPN.com on Monday in reference to tonight’s game with Buffalo. The Canes have only won 3 in 10 games and a win against the Sabres would steer Carolina back on the playoff path.
“Great, big game with huge implications,” agrees coach Paul Maurice.
ESPN.com noted the captain was very relaxed during the interview. So, if Staalsy isn’t worried…
Canes pair off against the 7th seed Sabres at 7:30pm. This is our third meeting with Buffalo, and victories are split 1-1 to date.
“We’re a pretty determined group,” told Maurice after practice today. Good thing, as there is no room for lackadaisical outlooks.
Power affirmations aside, I would like to take a moment to honor the late Richard Martin. Rick passed away Sunday from heart failure. The Sabres won an emotional game in his honor on Sunday. A heartfelt prayer to his family and fans.
