The Carolina Hurricanes opened up the 2010-2011 preseason on a bad note.  The Hurricanes allowed 3 goals in just under two minutes that did in the Hurricanes early as the went on to lose 4-1.  The thing about the group that played on Tuesday night was youth,  tonight heading into Nashville the Hurricanes bring a more veteran group with players such as Staal, Cole, and Corvo.  The Hurricanes take the veteran group on the road for their first pre-season action tonight.   Along with the veteran group tonight will be the first NHL action for players Riley Nash and Zac Dalpe, who each have an outside shot of making the trip to Russia and Finland.  Tonight should give us a little better barometer of where the team is as we have as 16 of the 20 spent quite a bit of time at the NHL level last season.

The Nashville Preadators play their first pre-season game tonight and will start Peka Rinne.  The Predators will also have other notiables in the line up such as Marcel Goc, Jordan Tootoo, Ryan Parent, J.P. Dumount, Patric Hornqvist, and Sergei Kostitsyn.  The Predators will travel to Carolina tomorrow to finish a back to back series.

Tonight should be an interesting match-up as we get our first look at the veterans and see if we can work out the mental errors the held us down in 2010-2011.
