The Hurricanes are coming off a back to back home wins and are now heading back on the road to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Hurricanes played one of their best games on Sunday considering all of the injuries. The Hurricanes were vastly out played in the first period, which goaltending kept them in it . Right now the Hurricanes sit in last place with a mountain of injuries, but seem to still playing hard. The Hurricanes are coming off a 2-1 hard fought victory over the Colorado Avalanche. Today they take on an Avalanche team that has lost their top two forwards to injury in Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson. The Hurricanes and Sens come in with almost identical records in their last ten with the Hurricanes going 4-5-1 and the Sens are 4-6-0. The Hurricanes hit the road today to start the front end of back to back games which starts with Nashville and ends at home with Colorado on Friday. For the Hurricanes this will be their first games since a big win against the Rangers on the second. The Hurricanes will be shorthanded again tonight as Eric Staal was granted a leave of absence to be with his wifes family after her sister was lost to cancer. Well after a great Christmas in the North Carolina countryside its back to blogging away.  Since my last blog the Hurricanes split a home and home with the New York Rangers in which Cam Ward and Henrik Lundquist traded save for save as goals were hard to come by.  The Hurricanes were able to come away with their third road win and seem to be a little more productive on the road.  Now the Hurricanes have a three day break before having a back to back in Nashville before returning home to take on the Colorado Avalanche.  So right now [...]
