The Hurricanes hit the road today to start the front end of back to back games which starts with Nashville and ends at home with Colorado on Friday. For the Hurricanes this will be their first games since a big win against the Rangers on the second.
The Hurricanes will be shorthanded again tonight as Eric Staal was granted a leave of absence to be with his wifes family after her sister was lost to cancer. First I would like to say our hearts and prayers go out to their family. With the leave of absence the Hurricanes are likely to be without Staal for both ends of the back to back and most likely Sunday’s game also. With Staal gone a great oppertunity for Jerome Samson who will play his first NHL game tonight. Samson has led the River Rats in scoring this season and deserves a chance at the NHL level.
The Predators come in to the night fight for playoff contention. The Predators seem to always have an under the radar team and are constantly talked about being moved to a hockey city. However, the Predators always seem to be in the playoff race and this year is no different. The Predators are lead by young Peka Rinne in goal and are amoung the best in GAA in the league.
In order for the Hurricanes to secure back to back win they will have to be good on the power play and penalty kill with a good work effort.
