There is snow on the ground and the Hurricanes take on one of the youngest most exciting teams in the Chicago Blackhawks. Come on in free parking tonight

The Hurricanes and Rangers meet for the fourth and final time this season as the play at Madison Square Garden tonight. In all three meetings the road team has won by a score of 2-1. The Rangers won both their games in regulation while the only Hurricanes win came in overtime. The Carolina Hurricanes were able to take two of four points on the weekend losing 4-2 to Philadelphia on Saturday and dominating the Bruins on Sunday 5-1. Now the focus is on the trading deadline and when will the first shoe drop. The Hurricanes have asked Ray Whitney and Nic Wallin to waive their no trades which is a signal of whats coming. This week brings games against the Rangers, Islanders, and Blackhawks. It still sounds kind of weird to say O Captain, My Captain and be talking about Eric Staal, but he sure led by example against Atlanta on Thursday. “It’s a challenge,” said Staal of his new role. “We’ve had great leadership here for a long time. I’m excited for the opportunity to learn from a great captain who won us a Stanley Cup.” Staal recorded his 10th career hat trick in the 5-2 win over the Thrashers. Eric Staal has been named the 15th captain in franchise history. Jim Rutherford said that Brind’Amour was given the choice of now or at the end of the season. Rutherford said with the transition already begining now was the right time for the move. When asked if there was any possibility of Brind’Amour being traded, Rutherford said Brind’Amour will finish his career as a Hurricane.

The Hurricanes will see the return of Chad LaRose and Sergei Samsonov. It’s Chad LaRose bobblehead night so get theri early. If you brings an item for the USO you get a buy one get one free ticket. GO CANES!

The Hurricanes return to action tonight coming off a two game road trip in which they went one and one.  The Hurricanes see the Thrashers for the second time this season and should be motivated after a complete collapse the last time around.  The Hurricanes went into the third period leading 4-1 and ended up losing 6-4.  However, the Hurricanes seem to be playing with a lot more confidence since their last meeting in Raleigh. Let’s be honest, when it comes to meeting some of the big name players in the NHL we are all still giddy little kids.  I bring this up because of people who want to just get autographs to turn around and sell ruin it for all of us true hockey fans.  I personally try to get an autograph from my favorite Hurricanes and NHL superstars when they come to town.  However,  I collect them because I want to show my children one day the card collections and to have something to share, god willing, with my boy or boys.  Usually [...]
