Ruutu Nets First Hat Trick, Hurricanes beat Stars 5-3

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Hurricanes really came to play last night, while the Stars did not. The Hurricanes jumped to a quick 3-0 lead on goals by Jussi Jokinen, Tuomo Ruutu, and Eric Staal. It seemed to me that the Hurricanes were ready to play and Dallas took Carolina for granted as an easy two points. Late in the first period the Stars started to push back on a goal by Steve Ott to end the first period scoring. In the second period the only scoring came from the Stars Captian Brendon Morrow to make 3-2. Early in the third period the Hurricanes [...]

Good Road Trip, If the Hurricanes Weren’t In This Hole

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well I am back after being out of town for the weekend and so much has happened since then. The biggest news came yesterday when the team put Aaron Ward on waivers hoping to clear some salary. Most likely Aaron Ward will clear waivers and has a better chance of being picked up on re-entry waivers. Also we will learn the fait of Michael Leighton today as he will either be picked up or clear re-entry waivers today at noon. The Hurricanes had a good road trip this week considering how tough the schedule. The Hurricanes finally got their first [...]

Brind’Amour a Healthy Scratch, Leighton put on Waivers

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Rod Brind’Amour will be a healthy scratch tonight against the Penguins. Interesting move by the Hurricanes, it can go one of two ways. Rod Brind’Amour could take it to heart and work even harder or this could be the end of Brind’Amour in Carolina. Now I don’t think this is the end for Brind’Amour in Carolina, mainly because he has another year at 3 million. I think Carolina is simply trying to shake things up since they it has been hard to make a trade. The other news is the the Hurricanes have put Michael Leighton on waivers. Jim Rutherford [...]

Hurricnaes End 5 Game Losing Streak, Embarking on David vs. Goliath Roadtrip

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

On Saturday Erik Cole looked like the Erik Cole pre broken neck. Cole was one of the main factors in the victory over Vancouver on Saturday, but not the only one. Everything that needed to happen for the Hurricanes did, including a power play goal no matter how much of a fluke it was. The Hurricanes played a good defensive game, Manny Legace was good most of the night, and they were able to put four goals past Andrew Raycroft. The Hurricanes game seems to be coming together now which is crucial since they are getting ready to embark on [...]

Game day Preview: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Vancouver Canucks

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

It feels like forever since the Hurricanes have had a game, but it could not have come at a better time. The Hurricanes have had a chance to rest some players this week, they actually only skated thirteen players on Wednesday. The Hurricanes now face a tough schedule for the next two weeks. After playing the Canucks today they head on the road to face the Washington Capitals, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and New Jersey Devils, which are all in the top seven of the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes really need a win today before a big road trip. The [...]
