It will be reunion time Saturday in Raleigh, NC. Tonight marks the first game back in Raleigh for Laviolette since being fired last December. However, if that is not enough Michael Leighton, who Philadelphia acquired off re-entry waivers a couple weeks ago, will start tonight for the Flyers in his first game back to Carolina.
Laviolette has not gotten off to the start he would like in Philadelphia that he or the fan base would like, but has already endured quite a few injuries. The Flyers have lost their top two goalies as Ray Emery had surgery and Boucher has a cut to his finger. In Leighton’s debut he beat the Lightning 5-2. The Flyers were suppose to be a top Stanley Cup contender this year, but the season has gone the other way as of today they are 3-6-1 in their last 10.
The Hurricanes must come out with a better effort tonight after a horrible effort in a 5-1 loss to Montreal on Wednesday. The Hurricanes should be motivated tonight taking on their old coach and teammate. Basically if the Hurricanes are to be successful again they will go as Ward and Staal go. Staal has basically underachieved since the cup season and with Brind’Amour at the end of his career Staal must step up.
