Well it is now November 13 and almost 40 days since the Hurricanes have won a game. Tonight the Hurricanes play the Islanders with a record of 5-3-1 in their last nine games. The injury bug continues to hobble the Hurricanes as two more Hurricanes may not play tonight.
In the game against the Los Angeles Kings the Hurricanes suffered two more injuries with both Stephan Yelle and Scott Walker leaving with lower body injuries. The depth of the team will be tested even more tonight as Staal, Ward, Walker, and Yelle may all be out of the line up. If the Hurricanes are going to get back on track, tonight could be the night.
The Islanders come in tonight with a very talented young group of player. They are led by 2009 first overall pick John Tavares. However, the surprise so far has been Matt Moulson. Moulson has come out of the gates with a total of 14 points. To put it in perspective, Moulson is a player sitting on the border of the AHL/NHL. If you ever wanted security in the net the Islanders have it. All three of their goalies were starters in the NHL last season.
If the Hurricanes are to win tonight they will have to dig deep. The Hurricanes are once again shuffling the lines as they will try Brandon Sutter on the first line tonight with Whitney and Cole. It is yet to be seen who will start in goal in this pivotal game, but whoever it is will have to play well for the Hurricanes to win tonight.
