Monumental Collapse X 2, Big Changes Coming This Week?

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well where do I begin after a horrible weekend.  The Hurricanes have accomplished what only one other team has in history giving up two five goal third periods in back to back nights.  The Hurricanes blew a three goal lead on Friday allowing the Thrashers a five goal third period to lose 6-4.  Then the very next night the Hurricanes gave up a 1-0 lead in the third to lose 5-1 to Buffalo.  Personally it’s been a horrible weekend watching the Hurricanes get spanked twice and the Heels lose to arch rival NC State.  That being said major changes will [...]

Canes Still Winless on the Road, Return Home Against Thrashers

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

First of all I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. With that being said the Hurricanes are still winless on the road. The Hurricanes had a valiant effort against the Ducks, but the end result is the same. The Hurricanes started fast taking a 1-0 lead on a Tom Kostopolous goal just 1:23 into the game. The Ducks would tie the game at one late in the second period. The game would remain even until the third period when Petteri Nokelainen put one past Legace to take a 2-1 lead with just over seven minutes to play. Later the Hurricanes [...]

Hurricanes Head to Dallas, Hurricanes vs. Stars Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Hurricanes embark on a short two game west coast swing tonight as they take on the Dallas Stars.  The Hurricanes look for their tenth point in ten days.  The meeting between the Hurricanes and Stars is the first of a home and home this season as the Stars will come to Carolina December 16th.  The last meeting was in Dallas as the Stars beat the Hurricanes last year 3-2. One of the main story lines is no James Neal tonight.  Neal is serving the second game of a two game suspension for a hit on Columbus’s Derek Dorsett.  Neal [...]

2 in a Row, and Heading to Dallas

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well what do you know the Carolina Hurricanes have won back to back games for the first game since beating the Lightning and Panthers in early October.  The Hurricanes came out and played a much better first period against the Lightning than the Maple Leafs.  The Hurricanes had a seven to four scoring chance lead at the end of the first period.  However, during a Kostopolous penalty Martin St. Louis put one past Legace to make it 1-0 after the first period.  The Hurricanes came out firing in the second period and quiet possibly played their best middle period of [...]

Hey The Hurricanes Are Not In Last!

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Let me catch me breath after that one.  I know it was a battle of the bottom two teams in the league, but it definitely was not a game for the faint of heart.  The Hurricanes once again came out flat allowing three different goals by Stajan, Stempniak, and Garbovski.  The Hurricanes may have lost a lot of games, but most of the time they keep working hard and tonight were finally rewarded.  The Hurricanes were able to score the only two goals in the second period when Stephan Yelle put a puck that your grandmother could have scored into [...]

Will A New Streak Begin Tonight?

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Hurricanes finally got their first victory since October 9th beating the Minnesota Wild 5-4 in the shootout.  The Hurricanes came out firing scoring three goals in the games first thirty minutes leading to a 3-0 lead.  However, like the Hurricanes always seem to do they let the Wild back into the game.  Once the Hurricanes took a 4-1 lead on a Brandon Sutter goal it seemed like they just shut down, allowing three goals two by Rob Earl and one by John Scott.  The Hurricanes had a couple of good penalty kills in the third period to send it [...]

Here To Hoping It Ends At 14, Hurricanes vs. Wild Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today the Hurricanes try for their first win in 15 games.  The Hurricanes got off to another horrible start going down three to nothing to the Islanders.  The encouraging side was the Hurricanes were able to come all the way back and force overtime.  However, the Hurricanes are still winless in 14 games. Today they face another western conference opponent in the Minnesota Wild.  The only other meeting between the Hurricanes and the Wild went to overtime where the Wild beat the Hurricanes 3-2 on a Kyle Clutterbuck goal.  The Wild come in as one of the worst teams in [...]

Will The Streak Reach 14 or Will Tonight Be The Night?

AUTHOR: | IN: Hurricanes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well it is now November 13 and almost 40 days since the Hurricanes have won a game.  Tonight the Hurricanes play the Islanders with a record of 5-3-1 in their last nine games.  The injury bug continues to hobble the Hurricanes as two more Hurricanes may not play tonight. In the game against the Los Angeles Kings the Hurricanes suffered two more injuries with both Stephan Yelle and Scott Walker leaving with lower body injuries.  The depth of the team will be tested even more tonight as Staal, Ward, Walker, and Yelle may all be out of the line up.  [...]
